Sugar Reefs Ethical Sourcing Policy

We love new and exciting products but not at any cost.

We continually seek to ensure that the products and services we source are ethically produced and seek to develop long-term relationships with all our suppliers.  We recognise within our ethical sourcing policy how complex the supply chain, diversity of product lines and people that produce them are, our approach therefore is realistic, objective and geared towards continual improvement.

Our intention is to promote high ethical standards within the supply chain without imposing unachievable conditions, which may be counterproductive to the workers, suppliers and client’s interests or which may encourage dishonesty.  Instead the aim is to understand the diversity of the supply chain, embrace local cultures and support communities and livelihoods.

We are committed to ensuring we continually improve our working standards and expect our partners to do the same and should they refuse to do so we will not hesitate to cease working with them. We strive for a collective and active role in influencing good practices and encourage an open and honest dialog across our network of suppliers and clients.

Our Preferred Suppliers are as close to home as possible, supporting local cottage industries first and then the wider British manufacturing industry.  On the rare occasion we work with an overseas partner we insist they comply with relevant laws, regulations treaties, covenants or other agreements, such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards. Our suppliers must demonstrate a commitment to implementing policies and practices consistent with our own.
